I recently purchased this instrument for a return to music after a very long absence. Receipt was sooner than scheduled, and everything was in excellent condition. I was pleased with the trumpet's looks, and with the slightly more brilliant sound than most lacquered instruments. There is nothing difficult to playing this brand and I can recommend it for beginners. The finish should be cared for WITHOUT the use of liquid or powered polishes. There are silve-finish polishing cloths readily available at a reasonable price. I was most impressed with the carrying case. It is created for the protection of the instrument; has two mouthpiece holes, room for a cleaning cloth, piston oil, and it includes a durable cloth carry-bag. On the outside of the case there is a zippered pouch which easily permits a full cleaning kit, extra piston oil and necessaries for keeping the trumpet in playing condition. I consider it an excellent value for the price.

I'm only a parent of a 7th grader who's been getting serious about her trumpet playing for the school band, not an expert. But we asked around about the features that should be present in a proper trumpet, read the reviews, and so on, before taking a chance on the Zephyr. Of course it sells for way less than the brands most band leaders and music teachers recommend, and they'll generally tell you to watch out for mass-produced Chinese-made instruments. But this one, though admittedly a mass-produced piece, is of rather high quality, with Monel valves, good welding, and so forth. My daughter was delighted with the sound, and even her choosy band leader said it was a really good trumpet. It looks like Zephyr (and probably LJ Hutchins, though we haven't checked one out for real yet) are new departures for Chinese trumpet makers, costing a bit more because they turn out a quality product, but still way cheaper than anything comparable on the market. I'm sure you can get a better trumpet, but you'll pay three times as much for it. P.S. It's beautiful.

Awesome horn for a great price Jul 26, 2010

To be honest, I wasn't expecting much for the price. I ordered on Monday and got the horn on Thursday with free shipping! The case is great, the horn is absolutely beautiful (there are no inscriptions on the bell, in case you're wondering), and it comes with a 7C mouthpiece and polishing mittens. The horn feels so good in my hands, no too light or heavy, and plays beautifully. I don't have too much time to play it yet, but every day I take it out just to hold it and look at it,,,,a steal at this price.

ordered this trumpet for my daughters first year in band, i was worried the school would not accept it since it was not one of the more popular name brands such as yammaha or bach, but to my delight after her instructor checked it out he said it was a very good instrument and told me i got it at a great price, she has had it about a month now and no problems at all,everything works great.

Google "Andres Eastman ETR520GS Bb Trumpet"...this Zephyr 600S is the identical horn as the Eastman ETR520GS that generally retails around $1200.00 US. IDENTICAL! I own an Eastman and I love it. The horn has a full, rich, warm timbre and blends very well with other horns in a group/band. It plays in tune throughout the register. Build quality is solid! The horn feels solid in your hand...plays great. The horn is mass-produced, but is built to a high level of quality control. Excellent horn!
