Indeed, a book for the serious upcoming trumpeter. The goal of this book, as Vizzutti conveys it, is to help the aspiring trumpeter quicken his path towards mastering the instrument, ease of play and crossover from playing someone else's compositions to eloquent improvizational skills. From long notes, lip flexibility skill building exercise, to finger power/flexibility exercises, to scale patterns, to tonguing exercises in EVERY key! A must for the serious trumpeter.
If you have fallen in love with the trumpet, this is book for you. If you just like to try the trumpet, this is not a book for you. You must have two important elements when trying this method, they are determination, and patience.
Good luck!
If you want to be a better trumpet player buy this book. Jul 20, 2009
By Trumpeter Excellent multiple tonguing exercises. Great range, endurance building at the back. These two sections alone are worth the price of the book.

The book opens with a few useful tips in the front for warming up properly and how to pace your practice routing. That's followed by page after page of mind-numbing drills. I was hoping for more insights (tips and contemplations) from one of the premier trumpet players today. Come on, Mr Vizzutti. Talk to us. At least give us some cool etudes to practice and enjoy, which incorporate your techniques. Take a page out of Arban's and Clark. Can anybody suggest to me a comprehensive and fun technical study for an intermediate to advanced student?

The event was simply billed as "Willie Nelson Sings the Blues," but the historic two-night stand on January 12 and 13, 2007 at Jazz at Lincoln Center was far more than that. Call it a summit meeting between two American icons, Willie Nelson & Wynton Marsalis, two of the most significant figures in modern-day country and jazz, who discovered common ground in their love for jazz standards and the blues. Their performance stirred the sounds of New Orleans, Nashville, Austin and New York City into a brilliantly programmed mix that was equal parts down-home and cosmopolitan, with plenty of swing and just a touch of melancholy. To say that these shows were a hot ticket would be an understatement. Luckily, the tapes were rolling and the results of this unique collaboration now constitute the Blue Note album Two Men With The Blues for everyone who couldn't cram into The Allen Room.
