center pitch tuner and metronome Jan 17, 2012
By steve pastore As a combo tuner and metronome, the CenterPitch CP10XLCenterPitch CP10XL Mic and Plug Tuner/Intonation Trainer with Metronome is excellent for a wide variety of instument players. It has an easy-to-use key transposer, so it reads out the correct note for trumpet, flute (concert key) saxaphone, also keys of F and G. So when a trumpet student plays their 'C' the student does not see on the screen an A#, but rather a 'C'. Also, the note display is ENORMOUS relative to many other tuners, so that a beginning student can easily tell at a glance if they are playing the right note. This is by no means an easy thing to do for many beginning and some intermediate players to do on the trumpet. I like to read out my double high 'C's' on it. So players at various playing levels leave it on their stand and actually use it. The metronome is a bit tricky to use, but again, stands above other metronomes as being actually LOUD enough (when set on max) to make it worth the purchase. Students who play instuments need sufficiently lound beats to hear the metronome over their own instument and adapt to the beat it dictates while playing. Many metronomes do not. Auto off is a plus as well for battery use, since other metronomes start when accidentally bumped in the case and then run out of power. A con is its complexity (i.e. it actually recognizes that transposition problems are significant), but the design allows for this to be easily overcome with the push of a button and the average second grader can tell what key they are tuning to and read the correct note in an instant. Those not able to tell what note they are playing often do not practice productively, fail to improve and quit their instument. Great for general Ed or addresses several problems of LD students. It is an afordable, very nice tone centering, intonation, rhythm combo practice aid.

Lots of Features in a VERY Small Package Jun 08, 2011
By JK The Center Pitch CP10XL "Traditional" Intonation Tool is a tuner / pitch generator / metronome for your band instruments. My middle school student found it easy to use.
I did not give it five stars because it was difficult to read the directions as well as the button labels. I had to get out a magnifying glass because THE PRINT IS TOO SMALL -- even with my bifocals!

On pitch, and on time Jan 24, 2011
By Mr. KnowItAll Great gadget! Every things works as advertised and well. Easy to read display and clear sounds make it easy to adjust my son's sax.
Great for the money Jan 09, 2012
By the wireless junkie This is a neat little combo tuner/ metronome. I play the Horn, and it has been very helpful with my playing. It has many nice metronome features ( triplets, time signature, etc), and is very easy to see and read out of the corner of your eye. The fact that it changes to red when you are out of tune is nice too. Highly recommended if you dont want to invest too much money into a metronome/tuner combo.

This is one of the most accurate tuners I have used and the one that is the most demanding for excellence in tone. It has been invaluable in my low brass work and low string work. I recommend it highly.

The event was simply billed as "Willie Nelson Sings the Blues," but the historic two-night stand on January 12 and 13, 2007 at Jazz at Lincoln Center was far more than that. Call it a summit meeting between two American icons, Willie Nelson & Wynton Marsalis, two of the most significant figures in modern-day country and jazz, who discovered common ground in their love for jazz standards and the blues. Their performance stirred the sounds of New Orleans, Nashville, Austin and New York City into a brilliantly programmed mix that was equal parts down-home and cosmopolitan, with plenty of swing and just a touch of melancholy. To say that these shows were a hot ticket would be an understatement. Luckily, the tapes were rolling and the results of this unique collaboration now constitute the Blue Note album Two Men With The Blues for everyone who couldn't cram into The Allen Room.
